A ferry has been operating on Lyttelton Harbour since 1888, connecting Diamond Harbour with Lyttelton. It's only a 10 minute ferry ride between the wharves making it a great Christchurch day trip!

A point of interest is historic Stoddart Cottage. Located to the back of the playing field and behind the shops lies the beautifully restored 19th century cottage and garden. Brought over from Australia and constructed by Mark Pringle Stoddart around 1860, Stoddart’s Cottage became the birthplace and a home of one of New Zealand’s foremost flower painters and early landscape artists, Margaret Olrog Stoddart.

The name Diamond Harbour includes the nearby settlements of Purau, Church Bay and Charteris Bay and is now recognised as the fatest growing community on Banks Peninsula.
